I grew up across the street from Mimi (we always called her Mary Martha) on Old Bullard Rd. We played together often when we were very young. I remember Mimi as a tomboy--very athletic and active. No wonder she was such a fine cheerleader later. Later, she and her family moved to another house which was still close to mine. I remember one particular afternoon when we were probably 10 or 11 years old  we played in a creek close to her house and behind mine. We had a great time catching baby frogs and watching tadpoles.

Mary and I were at Birdwell Elementary together. We would run against each other on the playground. I was very surprised I could keep up with her. We had such fun running and playing. It seems like just the other day, I can see her to the right of me running her little heart out and me panting to keep up. Lost her too soon in life.

Mary Martha (Mimi) passed away August 2, 1975 in Tyler, Tx. She has been greatly missed by many of us! Rest in peace my friend for always until we meet.
